Sori Yanagi (1954,Vitra) | Butterfly Stool
Japanese designer Sori Yanagi created the Butterfly Stool in 1954, and Vitra manufactured it. The stool has brass fittings and is constructed from rosewood or maple. The name Butterfly Stool comes from the way its gently curved contours resemble a butterfly in flight.
Charles Ray Eames' moulding wood production processes were blended with Oriental design idiom by Sori Yanagi. The Butterfly Stool is now considered a contemporary classic.
