Creating timelessness in everyday environments

A space with its own identity, which is the sum of nature's contrasting elements. A variation of light and dark, saturation and emptiness.
The details, objects and furnishings that fill the space become the demeanor of the room, in Japanese called Shitsurai 室礼. In traditional Japanese architecture, shitsurai applies to the sliding doors, the furniture and objects on tatami mats or wooden floors.
Being conscientious of how one enters a room, the finishing of the walls, the furniture and even the smalles of objects and details displayed, the natural elements, the height when experiencing the space.
The designs evoke the sincerity of pure materials, allowing them to quietly express their natural intensity.

The Ateljè
The Atelje was established as an homage to artists, artistry, craftmanship and their Creative Ateliers (French: [atǝlje]). An ode to Artists and their personal area to create.
From collections inspired by muzes like Hepworth, O'keeffe, Brancusi and Noguchi to displaying interior artists like Perriand, Jeanneret and Nakashima alongside local artists and a profound love for Japanese craftmanship.

A place for artisans
Focussing on only the essentials, the art of living is embodied in contemporary original forms, in all the aspects of daily life. The essence of The Ateljè emerges by touching the surface of each item inside the gallery. A contemporary hedonistic space aligned with a heritage of traditional craftmanship.

An ode to Japanese artistry
Japanese artistry and craftmanship inspired the first collection 'Isle D'art', named after Japanese art island Naoshima. Japan is a country of artisans, of crafts and techniques of ceramics and lacquerware. Of raw linen and harsh wood.
Japan, being an island, has taken in what Asia has to offer. The best of it, they saved, stored and archived neatly. A stockyard of ideas, wisdom and culture.
Learning to create from tradition, creating for the contemporary. There is a profound bond that connects us to Eastern Asia. It involves our values, art of living, approach to craftmanship and connections with talented artisans.
The art of living
An homage to the most enduring Japanese crafts and artisanry and more broadly, to the idea of the Japanese way of living, called Youshiki 様式.
The art of being is behind everything we create. From the craftware we use in everday life tensils to the incense and flowers that accompany the spaces.

La Collection
Enriching our daily lives by offering timeless, long-lasting products made from natural materials, inspired by true artisans and craftmanship. Objects made by humans - to be carved, welded and formed by a person's hand. A culture of treasuring each object, caring for it, reparing it, and finding unexpected beauty as it ages. Wheter it is wood, ceramics, linen, glass or lacquerware, focusing on exclusively natural materials to make the most of limited resources.
The boutique and the gallery are two central pillars that combine the essentials. Art to serve our curiosity, furniture design, tableware and japanese curiosa to enrich our daily atmosphere, workshops with fragrances and tea to bring serenity and harmony. All designed to enrich our daily lives and surroundings.
The boutique selling tea and handcrafted wares is found next to the entrance. Mostly sourced from Japan, everything from handcrafted lacquerware to ceramics can be admired and purchased. Products are all made in partnership with The Ateljè and craftsmen, with many exclusive to The Ateljè itself.
From the display cards to the packaging, everything here is considered. Even the way guests flow through the space through crafted metal and glass doorways is pre-meditated. At the back of the gallery the space called Nenge will reinterpret the use of natural materials for display.
To continue extending to the first, the atelier and gallery showcase selected designers with a mutual appreciation for quality materials and the way they can be used expressively. From paintings and calligraphy to sculptures and wall art.
Stepping out with a new appreciation for the materials and objects in the daily life. Curating the objects we keep, or what we consume, can all lead to a life led with simplicity.
A collection for the residence of the everyday connoisseurs'.

La Maison
With views delineated by nothing but nature, three elongated wings of black wooden volumes exist in the open landscape. A thorough approach with regard to detailing and materials strengthens the contemporary character of la maison. In the sunlight, the diaphanous rhythm of the slatwork is further emphasized. The palette of black and soft gray is tempered by the surroundings -the green of the trees, shubs and meadows.
A symbiosis between nature and art. Designed with special consideration for the local environment and scenery.
Fitted with lighting that was developed independently to display each work in the most beautiful manner. From creating artworks inside our atelier to the abundance of nature and the light-filled architectural space outside, taking a slow approach to quiet luxury and design.
Materials: Concrete, wood, lava stone, brickwork, steel

Two founders
Nature and serenity unite with modernity, where the best of honest artistry and craftsmanship is shared in a highly curated way.
Three years in the making, where the idea sprouted in the Autumn of 2022, The Ateljè feels like stepping into the mind of its designers. Raw and authentic, unvarnished and genuine. Carving the essence, accentuating genuine craftsmanship, and integrating textures among elegance. The directors themselves prefers to stay in the shadows, allowing craftsmanship to speak for itself. A respect for materials and makers is in the foundations of their work, modest yet equally as powerful.
An enduring and persistent passion for artisanal approaches and craftsmanship evoked the curiosity of its founders.
Attention to quality and artistry to create playes beyond the mundane. Where time stretches, every detail aligns and we experience with all our senses. Aiming to approach every facet of life. What we read, listen to, taste and experience to the selection of objects we surround us with.
"A life with intention and savour its finer nuances."
A boutique filled with carefully chosen or purposefully created artisanal products and playlists to dive into.
"Nature puts everything into perspective, the values of The Ateljè are based on that"
Taking time to create with intent, due to the invested time, objects are built to last.
"Every trend of her Japanese endaveor rendered new insights into her sensibility, spirit and aesthetic commitment to the raw and unvarnished. When the house completed, I discovered unexpected nuances that she had articulated. Hers is an an ongoing, fluid journey of contemplation, reconsideration and refinement chaos. "
