The tones of the collection are influenced by the airy nature of Japan and the art in its landscape.
A symbiosis between the rural, honest and traditional environment and its modern art collection.

Isle d'art
the slight grain on a heavy cotton cloth, the delicate rawness of linen gauze, the slightly raised fibers of natural wool, the imperfect hems of a dressed shirt.
There is a certain roughness in this collection, unfinished hems, deliberate creasing, fabrics that seem unpolished and yet it is still honest and raw to the touch, a yet ethereal feel.

An ode to art
The main source of inspiration behind.
The collection is focussed on the symbiosis between art and nature, throughout the island of Japan.
When visiting Japan in the Spring of 2024, the subtle, delicate colors influenced the collection. The colors serve as a reminder of the time spend inside galleries deligned by nothing but nature in its surroundings.
This last one is located in Fuji-Hakone-Izu national park, the museum has embodied the concept of a symbiosis between Hakone’s rural natural landscape and art. Designed with special consideration for the rawness of nature and scenery, the artworks blend in with their surroundings.

SUN BEAMS IN KUMAGAWA
More about the depth of the collection.
The bright sun beams that are reflected throughout the day and even night, on the island of Japan, served as a starting point for the collection. Softly shining onto nature, sculptures and art.
Created to seamlessly transition from morning to evening. Each piece in this versatile collection has a distinct personality when combined and layered.
Along with our silk collection, we also
present our raw cotton and Japanese linen combinations. For those early summer months, we designed coats in a heavy cotton wool to easily layer our way through breezy days and evenings.

Traditional art of layering
Traditions reflected in the collection
The choice to include items that are
lighter and made of linen is something that we worked on for a long time. Wanting to combine our silk and wool garments with a few more airy linen pieces that are ideal for warm, natural seasons when we might need to wear more breathable designs.
The harmonious art of layering is
something that we have learned along the way, travelling through the island itself. During our stay, being intruiged about the ancient way of living and while uncovering the art of layering in Japan, often used most by the monks high-up in these mountains. How the sun strikes down on these temples, where monks silently climb the staircases, carefully layering each garment over one another.
A true art in itself.

Traditional cuts
A nod to all Eastern Asia and the human collective culture that remains an endless inspiration to create garments. Each new design is a genuine attempt to open up new perspective to traditional designs.
Ancient cuts and cultures are studies and interpreted in the designer's language. Unlike classic western approach to confine and shape the body, The Ateljè provides the body the ability and freedom to shape the garment.
Pieces are layered with subtlety, integrated into a contemporary life and into a carefully curated wardrobe.

A layered blank canvas
With bright yellows and sensual reds alongside black and white
dresses referred to as blank canvases. A collection where art and surrounding nature meet as an artistic muse.
From unique bag designs inspired by Henry
Moore’s Mother and Child’s geometric shapes to the sophisticated reinterpretation of Isamu Noguchi's blank sculptures
"For the very first design, the Henriette bag, we translated the draping effect of a cloth to wear a child in, which is used in ancient Japan."
It evokes a time of precious nostalgia to the time spend on the island, while exploring its art museums and serene, raw nature.
